Dr Shinn Yeung is a general surgeon with subspecialty training in hepatobiliary, pancreatic and liver transplant surgery.
Dr Yeung graduated with honours from the University of Queensland in 1991. Dr Yeung trained in general surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and gained fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2000. Following this, Dr Yeung travelled to Basingstoke, England where further specialist training in hepatobiliary surgery, particularly in the management of colorectal liver metastases, was undertaken. Upon returning to Brisbane, Dr Yeung undertook further training in liver transplantation, advanced hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery.
Dr Yeung was appointed Consultant Surgeon in hepatobiliary and liver transplant surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and a visiting medical officer at the Greenslopes Private Hospital in 2004. Dr Yeung was awarded Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons on 4 October 2010.
In 2013, Dr Yeung performed the first robotic distal pancreatectomy, and in 2014 the first robotic single-site cholecystectomy in Australia. In 2017, Dr Yeung performed the first robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple’s) procedure at the Greenslopes Private Hospital, which remains one of only a handful of hospitals in the country that regularly perform this technologically advanced procedure.
Dr Yeung’s interests include the surgical management of colorectal liver metastases, laparoscopic hepatobiliary/pancreatic surgery, laparoscopic hernia repair and robotic hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. Dr Yeung is a member of a number of specialist societies including the Australian and New Zealand Hepatic, Pancreatic & Biliary Association (ANZHPBA), the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHPBA), and the International Laparoscopic Liver Society (ILLS).
Dr Yeung is currently the supervisor of surgical training at the Greenslopes Private Hospital for advanced surgical trainees.
Dr Yeung treats patients at the Greenslopes Private, Mater Private, and Princess Alexandra Hospitals.
