Dr Nick Butler is a general, laparoscopic and robotic surgeon. He has specific interests in surgery of the gallbladder, bile duct, pancreas and liver. He also performs adult and paediatric liver transplantation.

After completing his undergraduate training in the United Kingdom, Dr Butler moved to Australia in 2007. He was awarded a Master of Surgery degree through the University of Sydney and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2016. He has undertaken two years of advanced liver surgery and transplantation training at the Leeds Liver Unit in the United Kingdom and, since returning to Australia, has gained proficiency in robotic surgery under the
proctorship of Dr Shinn Yeung.

Dr Butler was appointed as a consultant hepatopancreatobiliary and liver transplant surgeon with the Queensland Liver Transplant Service in 2019. He works publicly at the Princess Alexandra and Queensland Children’s Hospitaland is a visiting medical officer at Greenslopes Private Hospital. He still manages to play football (soccer) in his spare time and represents Australia at Medical Football World Cups with the Docceroos.
